English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutoring Program
The Rice English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutoring Program trains
Rice students, faculty, and staff as tutors and conversational partners to work with university employees and community members.
No foreign language is required and time commitments can be as little as
one hour per week. The ESL Tutoring Program is a great way to meet the Housing and Dining staff at your college and make a difference in their lives. To get involved with the ESL Tutoring Program, e-mail Maria Condacse (mic2@rice.edu) or Tracy Dansker (tsd1@rice.edu).
For more information, visit the ESL Tutoring
web page at http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~esletp.
If you would like to volunteer as a tutor, please complete this form: Tutor Intake Form
If you would like to be paired with a tutor to learn English, please complete this form: Learner Intake Form
Volunteers may also help with ESL
Tutoring's English Corner. This group meets on a weekly basis (Fridays
at 12:00pm) to allow non-native English speakers a forum to practice their
English with native English speakers in a comfortable setting. Members
also learn about a variety of cultures and foster the founding of
friendships from various backgrounds and departments. Most participants
(both learners and tutors) in this program are graduate students, but
all are welcome to participate! For more information on English Corner,
please contact Daniel Stark (ds4202@rice.edu).
