Rice Houston Humane Society
Learn how you can make a difference in the lives of abused and abandoned animals in Houston! Whether through direct, hands-on service at the shelter or by raising awareness of animal abuse, the Houston Humane Society can use volunteers to help find new adoptive homes for pets.
Some of the potential volunteer placements include:
- Doggy Kennel / Kitty Condo Attendant - Provide human socialization and grooming to pets awaiting adoption
- Photo Team Member - Capture those playful moments that help pets find new homes through numerous partner web sites, including PetFinder, Pets911, and others
- Dog Bather - A clean dog is a happy dog and a happy dog is half-way to adoption
- Match Maker - Assist counselors in the adoption process and show potential owners around the shelter to find their perfect companion

Individuals interested in participating at the Houston Humane Society must attend one of the Volunteer Orientations. At this session you will learn more about the Houston Humane Society, their mission, the volunteer opportunities that are available, and general safety issues around the shelter. Volunteer Orientations are held at the shelter (14700 Almeda Road, Houston, TX 77053).
