Rice Developing World Student's Scholarship

The purpose of the fund is to provide financial support to undergraduate students who wish to volunteer in a developing country.  The scholarship must be used for travel, room, board, materials, or other related expenses for the current international experience.  This award is intended to fund individually-based service projects. Those participating in group experiences or as part of a team are ineligible for funding.

Recipients of funding may select from the third-party providers approved by the Community Involvement Center or may request to work with another agency.  Those choosing to select another agency must work with the Office of International Programs and the Community Involvement Center to ensure the program meets minimum standards set by the two offices or the placement will not be approved.  Applicants interested in this option should schedule a time to meet with Mac Griswold (713-348-6163 or griswold@rice.edu) prior to the application deadline.

All other questions should be directed to Sarah Hodgkinson by phone (713-348-6409) or e-mail (sarah.hodgkinson@rice.edu).

Information Sessions:

Those interested in applying for funding should attend one of the fall International Programs Information Sessions.  Both the Loewenstern Fellowships and Rice Developing World Student's Scholarship will be addressed during these information sessions.
