Spirit of Service Awards
To promote and recognize student contributions to service, both at Rice and in the broader Houston community, the Rice Service Council honors individuals at the annual Volunteer Recognition Event with the Spirit of Service Awards.
The Rice Service Council’s Spirit of Service Awards strive to recognize individuals who continually try to meet the needs of their clients, community partners, and co-volunteers without complaint or formality. Rice undergraduate or graduate students who act selflessly to bring aid to those around may be recommended by a peer, a volunteer coordinator, or agency representative familiar with their work. Those students who seem motivated by giving, not receiving, and habitually ask themselves and others what they can do to help should be considered for an award.
Nominations are due by 5:00pm on Friday, April 3, 2009.
The recipients of the Spirit of Service Awards will be formally recognized at the first annual Volunteer Recognition Event on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 6:00pm in Sammy's, located in the Rice Memorial Center.
